CD. 2005. Live performances.

devka was a short lived but really interesting collaboration with singer إنظر الى هنا Rachael Galletly and guitarist الإنترنت John Mills. It grew out of the 'solo' stuff I had been working on before - loops, samples and bass.
Again, the collaboration extended to working with آخر مشاركة بلوق Chris Morris (Bare Knuckle Soul) at Knuckle studios and انقر Matt Howden (Sieben) at Red Room studios.
And the whole thing was compiled and mastered by الخيارات الثنائية الذهب Tom Bell (aka Toddla T)...
The 'lyrics' were based on blocks of text I had been developing, like the following piece (which was later refined again as a http://www.punjabicenter.com/?iuf=%D8%AA%D8%AF%D8%A7%D9%88%D9%84-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B3%D9%87%D9%85-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%8A%D9%88%D9%85 yoyo static song).

The Insect Room.

Listen - cut the slack and slash the cellulose from our sedentary hulks.
Measure the distance between us – its beyond words ‘cause a strange fever grips this house.
We have lost the heart shape
We follow the map shape follow the rule shape follow the bullet shape missing the right shape.
Ramming square pegs in round holes.

We heave hours of daylight drag it screaming from our comatose death sleep.
We should suck the life out of our shady damp culture ransack our brutish hardcore hedonism
Rust up the turnstile on our helter skelter sarcasm
That howls the wrong way up and stabs us in the back
Sneaks a fascist prune back on all our hopes and dreams.

All of us are part-time kids, fierce bodied children in middle-aged hard as nails snappy suites
Killers captured on film gift-wrapping anxiety force-feeding a national habit
We should all go cold turkey and borrow a fresh pair of ears,
Turn the dial, tune in and listen carefully
Preserve and protect the fragile sounds we find
In the insect room of everything that’s better than this…

We follow the map shape follow the rule shape follow the bullet shape missing the right shape.
Ramming square pegs in round holes.
